GULF BREEZE, Fla. — A 20-year-old Gulf Breeze man has been arrested in connection to the recent vandalism at the Tiger Point Sports Association.
Chance Tate was booked into Santa Rosa County Jail Friday afternoon. He's facing a felony charge of damaging property-criminal mischief and is being held on $2,500 bond.
WEAR News previously reported the incident — which involved a pickup truck that was caught on video surveillance — happened on Jan. 8.
"The damages included deep tire ruts to the athletic fields, rendering the facilities temporarily unusable," the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office said in a release. "These acts of vandalism caused significant disruption to a space that serves as a vital community resource for youth sports and recreational activities."
The incident caused thousands of dollars in damage to the fields.
"Thanks to critical evidence obtained from surveillance cameras, our Detectives were able to identify and arrest the suspect swiftly," deputies say. "Surveillance footage played a pivotal role in this investigation, underscoring the importance of community safety measures."
