The only grocery store in Southwest Bend is closing after 15 years in business.
C.E. Lovejoy’s Market in Southwest Bend is closing after 15 years in business.
The grocery store, the anchor tenant of the Brookswood Meadow Plaza along Brookswood Avenue, will close its doors on Feb. 28. The shopping center management tells Central Oregon Daily it is actively seeking a new tenant for the 14,000-square-foot space.
According to a posting on the storefront, Scott and Kristi Lovejoy opened the store in 2008 despite the nation being in a recession.
Scott passed away in 2019. His family continued running the plaza and Lovejoy’s.
“Having sold the Plaza in 2022, Kristy and her team have decided not to renew the lease and instead close the market,” the notice reads.
“These endeavors gave us many wonderful opportunities to serve our community, family and friends. As a small business that both thrived and, at a times barely survived, we are grateful for the opportunities God has given us. Please continue to support Brookswood Meadow Plaza and the new tenant in the future,” the notice concludes.
Property Systems Inc. tells Central Oregon Daily the space is available as a shell or with the option to keep much of the existing grocery equipment. Those who are interested are asked to contact Robert Petrescu at 541-382-4112.
