Tina Miller Phillips shares the history of her family’s farm land and why they decided to open up a brewery.
KENNEWICK, Wash.- Wheat Head Brewing Company is the newest brewery in the Tri-Cities and is a family-owned business. Co-Owner Tina Miller Phillips and her dad opened up the business on their family’s farm land.
“My grandpa Glen and my grandma Shirley bought the farm in 1957,” said Phillips. “It’s a 4,000 acre dry-land wheat farm just south of Kennewick.”
Phillips said she has a background in the wedding industry, so her dream was to open up their land as a wedding venue. “When we went to the county about opening a venue that wasn’t an option,” Phillips said.
According to Miller, that’s when the county gave them the option of opening up a brewery, winery or distillery.
“When I heard brewery, a light bulb when off because brewery culture is what the farm has always been.”
Miller said it took three and a half years to build the brewery with the capacity and space for events as well.
“Now we invite everyone out to enjoy our little slice of heaven.” Wheat Head is located at 92308 Locust Grove Rd, Kennewick, WA 99338
TRI-CITIES, Wash.- Banded by Bloxham is a permanent jewelry business co-owned by sisters-in-law Makenna and Kamille Bloxham.
