Camp Verde Town Manager Miranda Fisher is excited about ‘this time of growth’.
When it comes to running the Town of Camp Verde, Miranda Fisher doesn’t kid around.
Camp Verde Town Manager Miranda Fisher is excited about ‘this time of growth’.
The dynamic 36-year-old stepped into the position of Camp Verde town manager just six months ago and has devised a tactical action plan to work from the inside out. “I’m taking a steady path forward focusing internally and getting our staff performing at the best capacity they can so we can have stabilization amongst the team. Every department is getting a deep dive action comprehensive efficiency plan for strengths, weaknesses and areas of improvement.”
Working with all departments, including public works, utilities and the library, Fisher is also serving as interim community development director.
“The Town of Camp Verde manager position has gone through five regular and interim managers in 18 months, so the organization needed stability more than anything else. We are building a steady path forward,” said Fisher who, to date, is the youngest town manager to serve in Camp Verde.
“I came here on my own – just me, single, no kids – and I love the job so far.”
“Our new town manager is a true breath of fresh air – efficient in action, effective in results and personable in every interaction. Her commitment to our community goes beyond leadership; she has become an integral part of the heart and soul of our town,” said Town of Camp Verde Vice Mayor Marie Moore. “Her vision aligns seamlessly with our town’s vision, ensuring that every goal is a step toward a shared future. Her ability to listen, adapt and act with precision has already made a lasting impact. I look forward to seeing her next six-month goals come to life, knowing that her leadership will continue to drive our town forward. With Miranda at the helm, progress feels not only possible but inevitable.”
Fisher was born in Boulder, Colorado, and lived there until 3rd grade. “My family then moved nearby to the mountain community of Nederland where I grew up and went to school. After high school, I attended Northern Arizona University (NAU) for a year and studied. Due to personal matters, I ended up having to move back to Colorado and attended Colorado State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism and technical communications.”
After that, she worked in Las Vegas for 10 years in health and human services. “I loved it but realized I was more interested in local policies and how that drove the policies and procedures of health services. So, I attended Penn State and got my master’s degree in public administration.”
When the position for town clerk in Nederland opened up, Fisher applied. “What better place to get my foot in the door? So, I moved back home. Six months later, I was promoted to deputy town administrator and a year later, to town administrator.”
“I love my hometown, but I knew I wouldn’t be there forever, so last year I started looking for new opportunities. I knew the recruiter for Camp Verde and applied for the town manager position. I love this area and after living in Flagstaff, it almost felt like a homecoming.”
“Since joining the Town of Camp Verde, Miranda has prioritized building strong connections with both staff and the community,” said Town of Camp Verde Economic Development Specialist Crisi Clark. “Her genuine commitment to understanding and embracing Camp Verde’s unique culture reflects her dedication as town manager. With her professionalism and transparency, she has quickly proven to be an invaluable asset to the town.”
Leadership is something that began early in Fisher’s life. She was student body president every year in high school. “I always knew I would be in some kind of leadership position and it’s really important to me to be a good leader.”
Enhancing public communication is one of her action plans, so Fisher has taken the Town Manager Weekly Updates and made them public. Camp Verde residents can sign up on the Town of Camp Verde website under “E-Notify.”
As stated in her Six-Month Action Plan, “I feel deeply honored to serve as the Town of Camp Verde manager. This has been a time of growth, transition and meaningful progress and I couldn’t be more proud of what we have accomplished together. From advancing major initiatives to navigating changes, we’ve laid a strong foundation for Camp Verde’s future. None of this would have been possible without the resilience, dedication and teamwork of our incredible staff.”
Though Fisher does not have a lot of spare time, she does like to read and travel. “My goal is to travel to all 50 states,” she said.
First Job
My first job was as a rental technician at Eldora Mountain Ski Resort in Colorado. I helped guests get fitted with snowboards and skis, making sure they were ready to hit the slopes.
Latest Obsession
I’m currently obsessed with football, specifically the Baltimore Ravens! I’m a die-hard fan who watches every Ravens game and catches as many other football matchups as possible. I’m also in three Fantasy Football leagues and two Survivor leagues. My passion for the Ravens even inspired my recent East Coast road trip, which culminated in attending the Ravens vs. Philadelphia Eagles game. Although the Ravens didn’t win, the energy in the stadium was absolutely electric.
My Role Models
My parents are my greatest role models. My dad works in injection molding, and growing up, he lived at his shop to keep projects running 24/7. I’ll never forget our weekly pizza nights at his shop because it was practically the only time we got to see him. His unparalleled work ethic and dedication taught me the value of hard work, which I strive to emulate. My mom, on the other hand, managed the administrative side of the business, from which I gained my organizational skills. She’s also one of the most personable people I know – every stranger is just a friend she hasn’t met yet. Her warmth, energy and charisma are qualities I aspire to embody.
How I Relax
I find relaxation in traveling. Exploring new places rejuvenates me. While I’m a natural worker bee, those larger breaks and vacations give me the reset I need to feel refreshed.
Last Time I Felt Nostalgic
During my recent 12-day road trip along the East Coast, I experienced a wave of nostalgia. Watching sunrises over the ocean and hiking through serene, wooded trails reminded me of the joy I find in nature and the beauty of being outdoors.
Best Lesson from High School
The most valuable lesson I learned in high school was the importance of leadership. Serving as student body president all four years taught me what it means to lead with authenticity and inspire a group of people to work toward a shared vision for a better future. FBN
