KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Boyd Sports and the City of Knoxville released Tuesday a parking plan for Covenant Health Park, the city’s soon-to-open multiuse stadium.
The question of parking has surrounded the years-long project since it was announced. In Tuesday’s announcement, Boyd Sports said the plan would involve dedicating more than 1,000 parking spaces to Covenant Health Park events. It also involves several shuttles to and from the stadium.
According to the announcement, urban planning models recommended planning for one space for every 2.5 attendees at an event. Covenant Health Park has a capacity of 7,000, meaning 2,800 spaces is the sweet spot. The plan features 1,500 dedicated stadium parking spaces and 7,400 regular spaces at locations around downtown Knoxville.
The plan breaks down like this:
Summer Place Garage
450 parking spots in Summer Place Garage will be dedicated to Covenant Health Park with a $5 fee for parking. A free shuttle will run from the garage, a 0.7-mile walk, every 10 minutes.
Langley Garage
This garage will have 650 spaces reserved for the stadium, also charging $5. Langley Garage will also have a free shuttle available every 10 minutes, and it’s also a 0.7-mile walk from the stadium.

Beyond those spaces, the the city and Boyd Sports have planned to run shuttles to Market Square Garage and Locust Street Garage. Other spaces in the area offering parking are State Street Garage, Jackson Avenue Lot, and Dwight Kessel Parking Garage, but there’s no plan to run shuttles to and from those locations.
Boyd Sports and the city also announced 70 ADA spaces across from the stadium at Old City South Lot B.
Other lots near the Old City will also have dedicated parking spaces for Covenant Health Park employees.
