VINCENNES — Brian Baker of Princeton is the new director of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation.
Over the past two years, Baker has served as development director for the Buffalo Trace Council, Scouting America. The Buffalo Trace Council supports 15 counties in southwestern Indiana and southeastern Illinois, including Knox County, Indiana.
He served 22 years with Oakland City University in roles including vice president for university advancement and as executive director/secretary of the Oakland City University Foundation. During his tenure, he oversaw three capital campaigns and the performance of more than 120 endowed scholarships.
He is certified in fundraising management from the Indiana Uniersity Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and a master’s degree in management. He also has an Indiana real estate broker’s license (referral status), which he has used to assist with gifts of real property and retained life estates.
He has served as treasurer of the Evansville Area Fundraising Council, a member of the City of Princeton Redevelopment Authority, and as past president of the Gibson County Visitors & Tourism Bureau.
“I am honored to continue building upon the legacy of the Good Samaritan Foundation,” he said. “Our goal is strategic growth of the Foundation, ultimately benefiting the patients and constituencies of Good Samaritan Hospital. My family has a strong tradition in the medical field. My mother was a registered nurse, and my grandfather was a pharmacist. Moreover, my wife is a proud breast cancer survivor. I look forward to bringing a fresh vision and perspective on philanthropy to the Good Samaritan Foundation.”
Baker and his wife Jamie live in Princeton. They have two daughters, Jenna, a freshman at Vincennes University, and Brylee, a Princeton Community High School freshman.
Helen Seirp, foundation board president, expressed her enthusiasm for Baker’s arrival: “On behalf of the Good Samaritan Foundation Board of Directors, I am very excited to welcome Brian. I am looking forward to his leadership and feel his experience in the non-profit sector will be very beneficial to the future success of the Foundation.”
Rob McLin, President and CEO of Good Samaritan, also welcomed him, stating, “Brian Baker’s extensive background in fundraising and development makes him an excellent choice to lead the Foundation. His vision and experience will be instrumental as we continue to grow our philanthropic initiatives to support the patients and communities we serve.”
