AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -The Augusta Sports Council has released the 10 semifinalists for the 2024 Ray Guy Award.
The group of 10 were chosen from 89 nominated candidates.
According to the council, candidates were evaluated based on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Areas of net punting average, percentage of punts downed or kicked out-of-bounds inside the opponents 20-yard line, and percentage of punts not returned, were looked at particularly. The Ray Guy Award committee also chose candidates based on the how the athlete displays team leadership, self-discipline and a positive impact on the team’s success.
The field will be narrowed down to three on Tuesday, November 26. A winner will be chosen on December 12, during The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
