Youth Electrum 2024, a showcase of K-12 student artwork throughout the Helena School District, is on exhibit in the Bair, Nicholson, and Held Galleries at the Holter Museum of Art from April 5 to May 8.
Experience this longstanding annual showcase where students can exhibit their work alongside their peers in a museum environment.
The annual Helena College Capstone Exhibition features the second–year art students unveiling their capstone art projects. The Capstone art projects are on display in the Millikan Gallery at the Holter from April 5 to April 21.
An opening reception for both exhibits will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, April 5.

In partnership with NoMore Violence Week April 8-12, Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, Great Falls Public Library, Arden G Hill Memorial Library and Cascade County Juvenile Detention Center will showcase “Threads of Connection,” a community quilt project exhibition.

This collaborative effort has taken place over two years with nearly 700 individual quilt squares created by individuals of all ages through over 20 workshops around the community. The squares have been assembled into multiple panels by volunteers. To connect these threads, a completed monumental quilt will bring all the panels together on display in the Thayer Gallery.

Helena native and Filipino Montanan painter April Werle debuts her new work “Secret Life of a Multicultural Couple” April 5-28 at Bell Projects gallery in Denver.
The exhibition is a narrative of paintings that reimagine intimate moments of culture-sharing between two people. Influenced by her parents’ arranged marriage, Werle’s works explore themes of mixed-race identity, belonging and family.
Her paintings have been exhibited at notable venues, including the Holter Museum of Art, Missoula Art Museum, and The Other Art Fair Los Angeles.
Currently based in Missoula, Montana, she continues to explore cultural identity and heritage through her art.
The first Heart of Helena Art Auction, sponsored by St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral, will be held on Thursday, April 11, at the Helena Civic Center from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
The auction will support nonprofit service organizations in the community. All proceeds from this event will be benefit these organizations and St. Peter’s Cathedral Capital Campaign Fund.
The event will feature a silent art auction with art from local artists and many well-known established artists. There will be works by Remington, Charlie Russell, Tucker Smith and Bob Morgan, just to name a few. All types of art will be featured — oils, watercolors, acrylics, bronzes, Icons, fiber arts and pottery.

While the Paperboys are known for their Celtic influenced folk/pop, Locarno explores Landa’s Mexican heritage. He was born in Mexico City and lived there until he moved to Canada in his teens.

The Montana Playwrights Network is offering Improv Class Encore acting classes on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on April 3-May 1 at 1319 Helena Ave.
Explore acting techniques that free the mind and build confidence through improvisation and acting skills.
The classes are taught by Errol Koch, who is a longtime member of both the Helena and theater community working as the artistic director of the Virginia City Players and off-stage with various other companies around Helena.

The Montana Playwrights Network will present the Montana Writers Rodeo conference April 19-20 at the Helena Avenue Theatre, 1319 Helena Ave.
This conference hosted by MPN President, Pamela Mencher, MPN treasurer, Pearl Allen, and co-directors, Mindy Peltier and Christa Chiriaco, invites writers of all genres from across the state to gather for story education, author readings, and networking.

The Experimental Theatre Cooperative will produce Montana Short Cuts, a suite of short plays to be presented as part of the 11th Last Chance New Play Fest.
The Fest will be held in Helena in November 2024. All regional playwrights are invited to submit.
The playwright must currently reside in Montana or one of the four bordering states: Idaho, Wyoming, North or South Dakota. Play will be judged on their merits, however, Montana writers will be given preference.
The play must be received before July 15, 2024. All plays should be submitted via email as to experimental.theatre.coop@gmail.com.
