
Bonduel’s Ryan Westrich gets his first score of the game-Trey Bahr answers back for Aquinas on the other end.
MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) – The Aquinas Blugolds jump out to an 18 point halftime lead en route to a WIAA Boys Division 4 State Championship over the Bonduel Bears 74-45 at the Kohl Center in Madison on Saturday afternoon.
Bonduel led early but Trey Bahr’s jumper at 14:44 gave the Blugolds the lead.
Logan Becker hit a mid-range jumper with four seconds left in the half to increase Aquinas’ lead to 18 at 45-27.
They came out hot to start the second half with a 10-0 run including a couple of threes by Vincent Bahr.
The Bears got on the board in the second with a Cade Johnson basket with 14:10 left.
By then, the lead was too great for Bonduel to overcome.
With a comfortable lead, Aquinas slowed the pace of the game down considerably in the second half and to run down the clock.
They were patient in taking their shots.
For Aquinas, Trey Bahr had 20, Logan Becker 16, and Calvin Bahr 15.
For Bonduel, Ryan Westrich and Carter Moesch each had 11.
This is Aquinas’ fifth state title and their first since 2013.
