You would probably like to know who I am.
Well, my name is Anna Knapp, but I have also been known as Taser Girl in the Greenbrier Valley. I worked at Miller’s Nightmare Haunted Farm for the past eight years, and I am now on a new path in the haunt industry.
This October, I am traveling around to visit new haunted attractions I have never been to before!
My first stop of the season was “Woods of Terror,” in Greensboro, North Carolina. While not located in West Virginia, it was worth every minute of the three-plus-hour car ride that my partner and I took on October the 4th.
This attraction is open from September 13th through November 9th, and it includes 13 different haunted houses you will walk through. They have 3 different ticketing options to pick from and a jam packed midway to hangout in while you wait to go through the haunt.
Okay, let’s get started with my experience there!
Although I have been a long time fan of Woods of Terror, this was my first time attending during the Spooky Season. I was even more excited because the weekend I attended, they were hosting a group called “Scurryface.”
Scurryface is an online platform that has actor representatives throughout the world, and I am one of the Scurryface Reps for West Virginia. I was able to meet so many of my internet spooky friends in person!
Once you get parked at Woods of Terror you will walk up to their ticket booth. I would recommend getting there early because lines will get long. As you approach, you will be greeted by security who will give you a wrist band, and let you know to scan a QR code so you can fill out their waiver while you are waiting in line. From there, you will make your way through security, get your tickets, and head into the Monster Midway.
Once you enter the midway, characters will greet you at the door – already trying to get a scream out of you. While walking around you will see a huge stage that has an awesome live band performing throughout the night, a concession stand, a bar, a merch booth, several different photo ops, and different games/activities you can play while you wait for the haunt to open.
By the time I had gotten into the midway, most of the actors were starting to head backstage to get ready for the Monster Parade. At around 8 p.m., the parade was about to begin!
“Bone Daddy,” the owner of Woods of Terror, was on stage with his pet snake, Spawn, singing the Woods of Terror intro, while the actors entered the midway. Once the actors were all lined up between the guests, Bone Daddy told them to “pick their victim,” and the actors jumped at whoever was close to them.
To close out the Monster Parade, Bone Daddy sang a rendition of the National Anthem.
Most of the characters then headed to their houses, while the midway characters began scaring guests.
Upon entering the queue line, you are met by a monster who will direct you through to the first house. The attention to detail in all of the houses is so well thought out, and you never know what you will see or who you will meet around the next corner of this roughly 45-50 minute adventure of haunting thrills and screams.
You will also experience jump scares, creepy sounds, 3D rooms, moving floors, and what feels like an entire moving building!
You will meet some zombies, witches, clowns, vengeful pumpkins, and your favorite cult classic slasher movie stars as you’re walking through.
Upon exiting the “Madhouse of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital,” you are transported back to reality, where you can grab some refreshments, merch, and take a breather after your thrilling time throughout Woods of Terror.
My experience at Woods of Terror was nothing short of amazing, and If you are a Halloween fanatic, I couldn’t recommend this place more. You are sure to have the best Halloween if you visit this attraction.
