MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – According to Midland ISD a coach at Abell Junior High, is no longer employed by the district after an incident at the Abell Junior High end-of-year sports banquet.
Derek Doss, listed on MISD’s website as the Abell Athletic Coordinator and Coach, was arrested for public intoxication on Wednesday night.
MISD shared the following statement about the incident:
“MISD Athletics and the District would like to offer sincerest apologies to families and athletes who were in attendance during the Abell Junior High end-of-year sports banquet. While this is a personnel matter that is under investigation, we can share that the individual is no longer an employee of the district. School administrators, coaches, and district staff will be supporting students to ensure a seamless learning experience and end to the athletics season.”
