The Michigan State men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as the hockey team, all have key games this week.
Coming off its 80-78 win over Illinois on Sunday, the MSU men’s basketball team has a rare week with just one game. The Spartans (16-2, 7-0 Big Ten), who are ranked No. 8 in this week’s USA Today Coaches Poll, do not have a game until they travel to New York City to play Rutgers at Madison Square Garden at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. That game will be nationally televised on CBS.

The No. 22-ranked MSU women, who are coming off an 86-68 win at Illinois on Sunday, have two games this week. The Spartans (15-3, 5-2 Big Ten) will host Penn State at 6:30 p.m. at Breslin Center on Wednesday. That game will be streamed only on Big Ten+. MSU then travels to Ann Arbor on Saturday to play rival Michigan at noon on the Big Ten Network.
The No. 2-ranked MSU hockey team, coming off a series split with Michigan, has another huge series this weekend. The Spartans (19-3-2) will host No. 4 Minnesota for two games at Munn Arena. The Spartans and Golden Gophers face off at 7 p.m. Friday (Big Ten+) and then again at 6 p.m. Saturday on the Big Ten Network.
