Stevie Nicks revealed her biggest “regret” as a voter during a recent visit to MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
The 76-year-old Fleetwood Mac singer appeared on the morning talk show to discuss “The Lighthouse,” her new song produced by Sheryl Crow. As Nicks explained, the song is a result of her determination to “do something” after feeling frustrated by the politics of the moment. Her appearance on the show aired on Wednesday, Oct. 30, less than one week before Election Day on Nov. 5.

“If you think about it, no matter who wins—god help us—no matter who wins, it’s not over,” Nicks, 76, said. She added that voters “have to figure out a way to bring back Roe v. Wade,” which she identified as “the cause I chose.”
The “Edge of Seventeen” singer briefly reflected on the popularity of protest songs in the late 1950s through the early 1970s. She then urged her fellow “musical poets” to “write some songs about what’s happening, like I did,” even if they’re nervous, as she was, about how audiences might react.

The “Gold Dust Woman” singer, who used her time on the show to urge others to vote, also admitted to one of her “regrets.”
“I never voted until I was 70. But now I regret that,” Nicks said. “I’ve told everybody that onstage for the last two years: I regret that. And I don’t have very many regrets.”
When host Mika Brzezinski asked what Nicks would tell voters who “don’t see how consequential this election is,” Nicks said it was a difficult question to answer.
“I think all I can do is say, ‘Well, go to the polls and vote, then,’” Nicks said. “Then vote your opinion, whoever you’re gonna want to vote for, go and at least vote. Don’t just sit home on the couch. Because, you know, maybe on the way, they might make a better decision.”
Nicks signaled her support last month for current VP Kamala Harris, who is the Democratic presidential nominee heading into the 2024 election. Harris is running against former president Donald Trump, who became the official Republican presidential nominee over the summer.
