The first Saturday in May always brings out some of the biggest celebrities from across the globe, and this year is no different as people have descended upon Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky for the 150th Run for the Roses. The infield is packed to the gills and the grandstand is buzzing with anticipation for this annual spectacle to get underway.<br>There's a pair of horses considered the favorites as we inch closer to post time on Saturday. Fierceness is the slight favorite at 5/2 and set to start out of the No. 16 gate. He's followed closely by Sierra Leone, who is around 3-1 and set to depart from the No. 3 gate. It's a little hectic."<br>Former MLB All-Star and 2008 World Series champion Jayson Werth shared his thoughts during the walk-over as he gets set to watch his horse, Dornoch, run the 150th Kentucky Derby.<br>The Rich Strike effect continues. Since Rich Strike won the Kentucky Derby at 80-1 odds two years ago, becoming the second biggest longshot to win the race, longshots have been bet hard in the Triple Crown races, and that remains the case today. With less than 50 minutes left until the Derby, no horse is greater than 46-1 on the toteboard (Endlessly, Grand Mo the First and T O Password). <br><br>As a result, the odds on the favorites offer value. Favorite Fierceness is 3-1 (up from a 5-2 morning line), and second choice Sierra Leone is 9-2 (up from 3-1). <br>With under an hour left until race time, the anticipation is building at Churchill Downs. He originally was 5-2 on the morning line. Blue Grass Stakes winner Sierra Leone is the 9-2 second choice (up from 3-1), while undefeated Japan-bred Forever Young is the 6-1 third choice.<br><br>There's much more time to place wagers, but more than $40 million already has been bet into the pool, meaning the odds may change a little but not drastically.<br>The journey to the Triple Crown will start today for one horse. There hasn't been a Triple Crown winner since Justify won all three legs in 2018. This year's pursue has reached a guaranteed $5 million, which is a record for the event and up from $3 million, which is where it had been since 2019. Like some of the other notable athletes in attendance, Leslie sported an all-white look.
