Bach to ABBA
The Beverly Unitarian Church will present “From Bach to Abba,” a program of classical and contemporary guitar music, on Saturday, May 11, at 7 p.m., at the Givins Castle, 10244 S. Longwood Dr.
Francisco Romero, a classically trained musician from Nicaragua, will perform works by Bach, Albeniz, Sanz and others. In addition, Romero will perform Nicaraguan folk songs, a tune by ABBA and the much-loved Besame Mucho.
Doors open at 6:30. Admission is $20.
Proceeds benefit the work of Beverly Unitarian Church.

Weavers Guild
The Weavers Guild South will host Betty Burian Kirk at its next meeting on Saturday, May 18, at noon, at the Matteson Public Library, 801 School Ave.
Kirk will introduce attendees to an abundance of fibers, including animal fibers like yak and musk ox, plant fibers like ramie and lotus, as well as regenerated manufactured fibers like rose, pearl and mint.
Kirk received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Illinois University, and she is a former art teacher.
