OBSERVER File Photo Westfield senior Tanleigh Bestine was the Wolverines’ lone representative on the CCAA Division 2 West First Team.
The Clymer girls basketball team lost just once en route to claiming the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West title this season.
Leading the Pirates to the league title was senior Alexys Neckers, who averaged 23.4 points, 7 rebounds, 5.7 steals and 4 assists per game to claim the league’s Player of the Year Award. On top of that, she was the individual sportsmanship selection for Clymer.
Representing the Pirates on the First Team was junior Ava Nyweide, who averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1 assist per game. Elli Bodamer earned Honorable Mention.
Enabling the Pirates success was head coach Dave Bodamer, who earned Coach of the Year honors.
The only team to defeat Clymer in league action was Westfield and the Wolverines were also led by a star senior this year. Tanleigh Bestine averaged 24.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.3 assists per game to earn a First-Team spot.
Sydney Hotchkiss and Mackenzie Schumaker earned Honorable Mention for the Wolverines, while Mackenzie Nollinger was the individual sportsmanship selection for the team.
Finishing right behind Clymer in the standings was Sherman. It was led by junior Kelsey Wagner, who averaged 11.8 points, 2.3 steals, 2 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game en route to earning a First-Team selection.
Senior Tayden Persons and junior Teagan Gratto represented Sherman on Second Team, while Lily Martin and Emmersen Crawford received Honorable Mention. Persons was also the individual sportsmanship selection.
Despite a slow start to the season, Panama finished strong and eventually became Section VI Class D champions. Honored in the league were senior Kylie Morgan, who averaged 9.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.9 assists per game, while junior Kaitlyn Horton averaged 9.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1 steal and 1.5 assists per game on their way to First-Team selections.
Panama sophomore Kiera Loberg was named to Second Team, while Kasey Markham received Honorable Mention and Cassie Lyon was the individual sportsmanship selection.
Maple Grove senior Rebekka Roberts rounded out the First Team, averaging 11.1 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Red Dragons junior Claire Price was named to the Second Team and Bryanna Cornell received Honorable Mention.
The league Sportsmanship Award went to Maple Grove’s Hayley Johnson and Claire Price, while Johnson was the Red Dragons’ individual sportsmanship selection.
Chautauqua Lake senior Elise Riedesel rounded out the Second Team, while Taylor Donato received Honorable Mention and Quinn Putney earned the individual sportsmanship selection.
Silver Creek’s Khloe Karnes and Gracelin Stevens earned Honorable Mention. Lucille Jimerson was the individual sportsmanship selection and the Black Knights received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
