The 20th annual Kent’s Fest celebration will be held today in the East Campus Gymnasium at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven. The gym is at 340 W. Main St. Kent’s Fest was awarded a competitive grant of $6,000 by the Clinton County Community Foundation to help fund the celebration and support the students. The funds provide T-shirts for the many participants and the shirts are purchased locally at Rachel K Creations in downtown Lock Haven. Organized by LHU’s Department of Exceptionality Programs and Council for Exceptional Children student group, the experience provides a musical talent show for children and adults with exceptional needs in Clinton, Centre and Lycoming counties. There will be approximately 22 schools-organizations and 42 classrooms participating. Organizers ordered 610 T-shirts, which accounts for all adults and students attending the event. The theme for this year’s celebration is, “Battle of the Bands.” Classrooms and organizations will be creating unique performances to personally selected music aligned with the theme. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at approximately 1:30 p.m. Among those organizing the event, shown in front of the East Campus gym, are, in the back row from left, Dr. Erica Jones, LHU professor in the Department of Exceptionality Programs; Katie Mease and Jocelynne Kuhns. Shown in front, from bottom, are Olivia Racho, Maranda Hanley and Harleigh Andrews.
