At least one person is dead and another was injured in a late afternoon shooting on Monday. Jamestown police responded to the incident that took place around 5:35 p.m. Monday. According to scanner reports, two shooting victims were reported at 839 Prendergast Ave., with one likely shot in the chest. Police Chief Timothy Jackson confirmed one victim was being transported to UPMC Hamot in Erie. He also said “multiple rounds” had been fired inside the building, which was deemed vacant. Later in the investigation, the coroner was called. In addition to city police, Chautauqua County Emergency Management Services, Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt and Jamestown Fire Department responded to the scene. In August 2022, a shooting on the same 800 block occurred that was a fatality.
