“Business leaders across South Carolina trust SC Biz News to deliver crucial information to help them grow their businesses and organizations, and these awards are a testament to that,” said Jason Thomas, executive editor of SC Biz News. “Our multi-media B2B platform offers unparalleled coverage of South Carolina’s business landcape through our print journals and websites, as well as in-depth data packages and special sections like Book of Lists and Market Facts in each brand.
“I’m humbled and honored to work with such a talented team.”
Krys Merryman won a first-place award for feature writing for “Devastating accident leads to life-altering career change for Greenville business owner.”
Andrew Sprague picked up first- and third-place awards in the page design category. The first-place award was for the cover of SCBIZ Magazine called “Supplying the chain.” Third was awarded for a Charleston Regional Business Journal issue called “Tunnel Vision,” which featured a massive project to improve drainage in Charleston.
Sprague and Andy Owens earned first- and second-place awards for the infographic category for “Don’t panic over SC’s annual shark attack data” and “Welcome to the (real) Peach State.”
Ross Norton placed second for business reporting for “Long drives turn Greenville software engineer into candy entrepreneur.” Christina Lee Knauss placed third in the category for “Behind one couple’s dream to open a boutique hotel in Columbia.”
Knauss also won a third-place award for news reporting for a story called “Scout Motors deal finally puts Richland County in the driver’s seat.”
Lake Wylie Today, an SC Biz News magazine published in conjunction with the Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce, placed second among publications in the associate member division of the contest. The winning issues were the spring and winter editions in 2023, put together by Susan Bromfield and Shreesh Rajeev Diwanaji under the editorial direction of Steve McDaniel, editor of the Custom Publications Division.
