
In a vote that ended March 14, Cincinnati.com readers selected the next 2025 Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athletes of the Week from high school sports action through March 9.
Winner certificates through Feb. 14 have been mailed to athletic departments so winners can pick up their certificates through athletic directors.
Here are this week’s winners.
Ohio boys basketball team: Aiken – They avenged their only loss of the season so far by beating Trotwood-Madison 71-50 in the regional final Sunday to make their second state tournament appearance.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball team: Cooper – The Jaguars advanced to the Region 9 semifinals with a 58-45 win over Highlands.
Ohio girls basketball team: Winton Woods – The undefeated Warriors are in the state championship game for the first time after a 58-55 overtime win over Big Walnut on Sunday.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball team: Cooper – The girls are in the Kentucky Sweet 16 after beating Dixie Heights in the Region 9 semifinals on Wednesday and Notre Dame in the Region 9 final on Friday.
Boys winter team: La Salle bowling – At the OHSAA Division I state tournament, the Lancers rolled a 4,013 to finish in eighth place overall in the qualifying rounds.
Girls winter team: Simon Kenton archery – The coed team scored a 3,292 to win the 2025 Dixie Cup on March 7 and 8.
Ohio big-school boys basketball: Isaiah Meade-Moss, Lakota West – The senior led the Firebirds with 13 points including a go-ahead 3-pointer in the fourth quarter in their 45-40 win over Fairfield in the Division I regional final.
Ohio small-school boys basketball: Max English, La Salle – The senior scored a career-high 17 points including four 3-pointers and 4 rebounds in the Lancers’ 56-55 loss to Aiken in the Division III regional semifinals.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball: Isaac Brown, Cooper – He led the Jaguars with 22 points in their 58-45 win over Highlands in the Ninth Region Tournament.
Ohio girls basketball: Ra’Khyia Prince, Winton Woods – She had 9 points on three 3-pointers, including a triple in the final minute of regulation to help the Warriors come back from a 10-point deficit as they defeated Big Walnut in overtime.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball: Maya Lawrie, Notre Dame – The senior was the catalyst in the Pandas’ Ninth Region semifinal win over Highlands, scoring 14 points, grabbing four rebounds and blocking two shots.
Ohio boys bowling: Jace Amann, La Salle – The sophomore was the top Cincinnati player in the Division I state individual tournament, finishing 15th with a three-game series of 665 (162-269-234). He led the Lancers to eighth place in the Division I state team tournament, as the Lancers lost to eventual state runner-up Boardman in the first round of match.
Ohio girls bowling: Nevaeh Williams, Walnut Hills – The senior finished seventh in the OHSAA Division I state tournament with a three-game series of 644 (195-214-235).
Ohio boys indoor track: Grant Harrison, New Richmond – The senior won the DII pole vault state title, matching his indoor personal best of 17 feet.
Ohio boys indoor track relay team: Moeller Crusaders – Gavin Barry, Jackson Butler, Dana Walker and Darryl Webb won the DI state title with a time of 3:23.83.
Northern Kentucky boys indoor track: Paul Van Laningham, Cooper – He won the Class 3A 1,600-meter run in a new overall state record time of 4:13.04. He was also the 3,200-meter runner-up.
Northern Kentucky boys indoor track relay team: Beechwood – Luke Erdman, Tyler Fryman, Koen Henderson and Nathan Pabst won the Class 1A 4×200 meter relay state title with a time of 1:32.07.
Ohio girls indoor track: Vivian Momper, Madeira – She won the DIII 200-meter dash state title in 24.67 seconds, then won the 400-meter state title in 56.61 seconds. Momper also helped the Amazons win the 4×400 meter relay state title in 4:01.46, a four-second gap over second place, and take second place in the 4×200 meter relay. The Amazons won the girls team title with 61 points.
Ohio girls indoor track relay team: Loveland – Delaney Cilley, Abby Droessler, Parker Mentzer and Caroline Murnan won the DII 4×800 meter relay in 9:41.48, a 13-second margin of victory over second place.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls indoor track: Hayden Harlan, St. Henry – She won the Class 1A high jump state title, setting a state record of 5 feet, 3.25 inches in the process.
Ohio boys wrestling: Gage Murphy, Reading – The senior became Reading’s fifth wrestling champion when he finished off a 55-0 season by pinning every opponent he faced in the Division II, 165-pound bracket.
Ohio girls wrestling: Kelsey King, Lakota West – The junior went 41-2 overall and won the 125-pound state championship with a 41-second pin in the finals.
