Milton, Pa. — Rutter’s convenience store and gas station will debut their new bar and lounge format when the Milton store opens this spring.
The 21+ Bar and Lounge will feature an extensive list of canned cocktails, wines, and beers for patrons age 21 and older as well as televisions with sports broadcasts.
The lounge will be “blending the energy of a sports bar with the ease and accessibility of a convenience store,” according to a press release. The lounge locations, which also will include a store in Johnstown, will be up 14,000 square-feet.
The space will include more than 20 65-inch HD televisions that will broadcast live sports with real-time updates. The lounge also will include five video gaming terminals, according to the release.
The Milton Rutter’s store, located in West Chillisquaque Township at Industrial Park Road just off Route 147, is slated to open sometime this spring. The new prototype store will have 12 auto fueling stations with five diesel lanes. The store also will have made-to-order food. Rutter’s expects to hire around 50 employees to work at the store, which will be open 24/7.
Rutter’s, which is based in York, announced in 2023 plans to expand their footprint with 50 more locations in the next five years. The company currently operates nearly 90 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. Some of the new locations will be in the eastern part of the state. This comes at a time when Delaware County-based convenience store chain Wawa is also expanding across Pennsylvania. Plans also are in the works for stores in Delaware and Virginia.
