As we enter the final week of winter competition, it’s time again for the Tribune’s Prep Athlete of the Week.
Congratulations to last week’s winners of the polls, Addi Kynett of Great Falls High girls’ basketball and Brady Pike of C.M. Russell High boys’ hoops.
With only two Electric City teams in competition last week, this Athlete of the Week poll will also feature athletes from winter sports teams that have already concluded that may not have been recognized earlier in the year.
Each week during competition, two girls and two boys will be nominated, with the audience choosing the winner via poll, which are both posted below.
Athletic directors, coaches, parents, and fans are encouraged to send in Athlete of the Week nominations for competitors in all sports in Northcentral Montana. Nominations can be sent to sports reporter Grady Higgins at ghiggins@greatfallstribune.com.
Voting on this week’s poll will be open until Friday at 11:59 p.m., and the winners of the vote will be announced in the following week’s Athlete of the Week story.
Brady Henzel, CMR basketball: The senior dropped 18 points and had five in a quick stretch in the fourth quarter to elevate the Rustlers’ comeback attempt against Billings Senior in the state play-in game on Thursday.
Jace Komac, Great Falls High wrestling: The junior finished third at 150 pounds at the state wrestling tournament to earn his third state place in as many years.
