Warriors debut with victory
Whiteland played its first-ever Unified contest on Wednesday and came away with a 63-38 victory over visiting Perry Meridian.

Woodmen sweep Wildcats
Greenwood cruised to a 5-0 victory over Lawrence North on Wednesday. Carter Chatham, Nick Pruett and Keegan Lane were all victorious in singles, with Pruett winning in three sets; Isaac Apgar and Aiden Walton came out on top at first doubles for the Woodmen (2-0), while Thomas Satterfield and Beau Syers earned a point in the No. 2 slot.
Grizzly Cubs top Shelbyville
A singles sweep helped Franklin to a 4-1 win over Shelbyville. Reid Davidson and Nathan Neville were straight-set winners in the top two spots for the Grizzly Cubs (2-1), with Jaxson Doddridge taking a three-setter in the No. 3 position. The No. 2 doubles team of Carsten Bland and Ethan Barnes was also victorious.
Girls golf
Whiteland drops three-way
A team score of 249 wasn’t enough to get Whiteland past Plainfield or Mooresville on Wednesday. Brianna Humphress led the Warriors with a 59.
Girls soccer
Trojans edge Panthers
Brooklyn Brown’s goal held up as the only one of the night as Center Grove held on for a 1-0 triumph at Bloomington South. Goalkeeper Anderson Broshears made eight saves to preserve the win for the Trojans (2-1).
Warriors suffer first defeat
Whiteland came up short in its Mid-State Conference opener on Wednesday, suffering a 1-0 loss at Plainfield. The Warriors fell to 2-1 overall.

Center Grove revises security policy
Center Grove has instituted a clear bag policy for its home football games, similar to the ones in place at Lucas Oil Stadium and several other sporting venues. Any bag larger than a small purse or clutch must be transparent; all bags are subject to searches, and no pets or outside food or drink will be permitted.
Nobody covers Johnson County and the surrounding areas like the Daily Journal.
