Lake City broke through in the second half to regain the lead for good and end their first losing streak of the season. The Tigers prevailed in a 58-46 win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa Thursday.
The Cougars initially led during much of the game, maintaining a 29-26 lead at the half. Gavyn Lorenson began to take over with seven points early on in the second to give the Tigers a slim 41-39 lead. They widened the lead to 50-39 over the next 5 minutes to complete a 13-0 run. From there, the Tigers continued to hang on to a double-digit lead.
Lorenson led all scorers with 22 points. Josh Wohlers scored 14 points. Luke Narum had 10 points and Colter Hegge added eight points.
Bakster Arendt came up with 12 points and two assists to pace the Cougar offense. Hudson Ohm had 11 points and six rebounds. Karsten Miller ended with nine points, six rebounds and two blocks. Ethan Miller was held to five points and five rebounds.
