Kate Winslet is terrified of cows.
The 'Titanic' star, 49, believes they are the world's "scariest animal" and confessed her fears during an appearance on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' revealing she had a conversation with someone familiar with the animals who warned her she could get trampled in a stampede.
When asked to name the world's most terrifying creature, Kate told the host: "I’m honestly not brilliant with cows and I know that sounds … [silly] but listen here’s the thing.
"Someone said to me: 'Oh you’ve got to learn how to read a field of cows, you have, you’ve got to be careful because if they turn, oof they’ve gone.'
"I said: 'What do you mean?' [The person replied] 'Well if their tails are swishin’ and they’re flickin’ like that and there’s flies, it means they’re unhappy.
"They might charge you.' And I was like: 'Oh my God!' …
"I have decided that they are going to stampede me to the ground … "
Kate went on to recall a terrifying incident which occurred when she was out on a walk in the countryside with her late mother.
She said: "There was a time when my mother was alive, and she and I were on a walk, and some cows absolutely were catching up with us …
"They were slowly Bo-Peeping it and then they did speed up, really, truly. Borderline [a] couple of gallopers, I’d say.
"However, there are quite a lot of stories in England about people having very nasty run-ins with cows. Very real ones. So I am extremely wary of a field of cows."
Kate went on to insist she wants to "get better at coping" with her fear, telling Colbert: "They’re not really scary, are they? No, they’re not".
However, she added it's right to be wary of cows, calling it a "legit fear".

Chrissy Teigen has called for a social media curfew.
The model – who is married to singer John Legend – is a regular user of Instagram but she's convinced services should be suspended between the hours of 6pm and 6am to give everyone a break because "life was awesome" before platforms like Facebook and TikTok launched.
In a post on her Instagram Stories, she explained: "I personally think that one day there will be the most incredible rule, my first rule would be — I think the government or some kind of ethics committee, somebody, should shut off social media between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
"Leave it all up. Everyone gets to do anything they want but only between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Shut it off. Done."
Chrissy went on to add: "I come from the days where we had nothing and then we saw something. Guys, life was great. Life was awesome before this.
"I know it’s hard to see it now, but it’s doable. It’s very doable. This doesn’t have to be our lives. And I say this for myself as well because, obviously, I’m on here right now doing this! But it doesn’t have to define us or be our whole lives."
Chrissy's post comes after TikTok was taken down in the US on Saturday night (18.01.25) after lawmakers in the country ordered the platform's Chinese owners ByteDance to sell the firm or face a black out in America.
However, the platform has since been given a reprieve thanks to US President-elect Donald Trump, who has vowed to worked with the company to find a solution after he officially takes office on Monday (20.01.25).
A statement from TikTok posted on X explained: "In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service.
"We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive.
"It’s a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States."

Slash feels "fortunate" to still be alive after coming close to death in his 30s.
The Guns 'N' Roses guitarist suffered heart problems brought on by his heavy drinking and drug-taking over the years and he admits he is lucky to still be around and able to work as he approaches his 60th birthday in July.
He told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I just feel lucky to be here. I got a letter the other day from my tour manager, detailing one of the times I died back in 2001.
"So I’m just really fortunate and think getting older is an accomplishment – people complaining about their age should rethink … And so I will do this, proudly, for as long as I physically can."
Slash was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy – a form of congestive heart failure – when he was in his mid-30s but recovered after having surgery to add an implant to his heart.
The rocker went on to admit he threw himself into the party lifestyle when he first shot to fame and ended up feeling even more isolated before he eventually got sober in 2006.
He told the publication: "I was just going headlong into everything. Hardcore partying. But nobody ever spoke about what happens when the tour stops, and the adrenaline ends.
"Because I didn’t have a real life before this. I was a kid, then I got into a band. So when I had a break, I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to go out and be recognised. That’s not my thing – though I would have been laid more, I guess.
"But instead, I ended up doing lots of drugs – alienating drugs where you are just a loner. I did that for years and, so, finally, I got sober. And then just jumped into spending all my time doing music. It speaks to me in a positive way."

Bob Dylan's old will is up for sale.
The 83-year-old singer originally signed the plans for after his death as 'Robert Dylan' and it is dated 26 August 1976, with the wording showing it is an amendment to a document he originally filed on 22 September the previous year.
The typed codicil – which is hand signed and dated – is going up for sale through Moments in Time, with the collectors' setting the price at $27,500.
In the document, Bob stated he was leaving his brother David Zimmerman $50,000 and the house he was living in at that time, and also made provisions for any children who outlived him.
At the time of signing the paperwork, Bob had children Maria, now 63, Jesse, now 59, Anna, 57, Samuel, 56, and Jakob, 55, with then-wife Sara Lownds. He went on to have daughter Desiree, now, 38, with second wife Carolyn Dennis, who he split from in 1992.
It is unclear at what point the folk legend rewrote his will for this version to be able to change hands now.
Bob is currently in the spotlight following the release of his biopic 'A Complete Unknown', in which he is played by Timothee Chalamet, and director James Mangold recently praised the 'Lay Lady Lay' hitmaker for being "incredibly helpful" during a series of "lovely" meetings.
James told the Big Issue magazine: “We met in a coffee shop that was closed for Covid and we just sat down and talked for five hours.
“We did the same over a series of dates after that. And they were just lovely conversations in which he was anything but guarded. He answered any question I had.
“I was a curious artist asking questions, many of which he’d never been asked before, rather than a biographer setting down something to be put in print.
“There’s a kind of emotional reality that I’ve got to kind of capture – and he was incredibly helpful with that.”
And when he had any doubts about the project, Bob put his fears at ease.
James said: “He’s been nothing but a positive force.
“There was a moment when I was writing the script when people were getting nervous that it was veering too much from a simple story of folk versus rock into the personal side of his life.
“Bob asked to read the script, reacted positively, and gave me the green light to continue, and that includes depictions of misbehaviour. He sees himself with a clear eye.”

"I’m coming from a world of blacks. I’m an inner city kid. To be on the whitest show in America, I felt by myself. I felt like they weren’t getting it."
However, Tracy's outlook changed following a conversation with Lorne Michaels, the show's creator.
The comedian explained: "Lorne Michaels had that talk with me. He said, ‘Tracy, I hired you because you’re funny, not because you’re black. So just do your thing.’ And that’s when I started doing my thing."

He said: "It's really an amazing thing that you have this live television show that still continues to put its finger on the pulse of what we're all thinking about, and it's a real credit to Lorne for having thought of it in the first place."

The 'Dilemma' hitmaker will perform alongside Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, Village People, and Jason Aldean at the Capitol in Washington D.C. on Monday (20.01.25) as the Republican is sworn in for his second presidency.
After facing a backlash for supporting the controversial politician, the 50-year-old rapper told Geto Boys’ Willie D on YouTube: "I didn’t know that I had to agree with your political choices. If you follow what I do, this shouldn’t even be an argument. He is the president. He won.
He's the president. He's the commander-in-chief of what I would like to say is the best country in the world."
The 'Ride Wit Me' star insists he never accepted the gig for the money and it's not about "politics".
Nelly continued: "I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this because it’s an honour. I respect the office. It don’t matter who is in office. The same way our brothers and sisters go to war to put their life on the line for whoever is in office. So, if they can put their life on the line for whoever is in office, I can damn sure perform for whoever is in office."
After previously trying to get Trump to stop using their hit 'Y.M.C.A.' at his rallies, Village People are taking part in "at least one event" celebrating the inauguration.
In a statement, the disco band said: "We are announcing today that VILLAGE PEOPLE have accepted an invitation from President Elect Trump's campaign to participate in inaugural activities, including at least one event with President Elect Trump."
Defending the decision, they added: "We know this [won't] make some of you happy to hear however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics. Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost."

Draft lyrics to Bob Dylan’s song “Mr. Tambourine Man” went for over a half-million dollars as part of a weekend sale of dozens of items related to the iconic American singer-songwriter.
About 60 Dylan items — including photos, music sheets, his guitar, pencil drawings and an oil painting composed by the Nobel Prize for literature winner — were sold on Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee, through Julien’s Auctions.
The items generated nearly $1.5 million in sales overall through in-person and online bidding, the auction house said. Julien's said 50 of the items, including the lyrics that received the highest sale price, came from the personal collection of late music journalist Al Aronowitz.
The typewritten lyrics, which covered three drafts of the 1965 song, were written on two sheets of yellow paper, with Dylan’s annotation on the third draft.
Dylan wrote the original draft lyrics in the journalist's New Jersey home, according to Julien’s, citing a 1973 newspaper article by Aronowitz.
Dylan sat “with my portable typewriter at my white formica breakfast bar in a swirl of chain-lit cigaret smoke, his bony, long-nailed fingers tapping the words out” on copy paper, Aronowitz was quoted as writing.
The third draft, while close to the final version, still had significant variations from the final lyrics, the auction house said on its website.
The song appeared as the lead track on the acoustic side of his 1965 “Bringing It All Back Home” album and was the first Dylan composition to reach No. 1 in the United States and the United Kingdom, Julien’s said.
Other high-selling items Saturday included a 1968 Dylan-signed oil-on-canvas painting for $260,000 and a custom 1983 Fender guitar that he owned and played for $225,000.
Dylan, now 83, is garnering attention with last month's release of the movie “A Complete Unknown," which focuses on his rise to stardom in the early 1960s. Dylan is played by Timothée Chalamet, who has worked for several years on the role, which involves singing and playing guitar.
