The Barstool Sports effect on Maryland pizza shops also stopped in Anne Arundel County.
Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, took his One Bite Pizza Review to Rocco’s Pizza in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County, in December, where he gave the pizza a 7.8 out of 10. He said on social media that Rocco’s has “good quality American football pizza” with good cheese and crust.
The owner’s daughter, Morgan James, told 11 News business has been nonstop since Portnoy’s visit.
“(It’s a) life-changing experience. We’ve seen a great turnout – probably triple or quadruple the business,” James told 11 News. “It’s been great for us and we’re so, so thankful. The feedback is great.”
James said they’ve received request from all over for pizza deliveries.
“We have people coming from D.C., Baltimore, we have people calling up and we can’t keep the phones on the hook. It’s crazy. People want deliveries to Charlotte, North Carolina, and said, “What would you charge me to deliver it here?’ (It has been an) amazing turnout of people from everywhere.”
Portnoy also stopped at Tiny Brick Oven in Federal Hill for a One Bite Pizza Review and gave a $60,000 donation that will keep the business from closing.
