David Schwimmer is sharing a story about his surprising history with a legendary musician.
During an appearance on The Late Show on Monday (January 13), the Friends star explained to host Stephen Colbert how he had different odd jobs before making it big as an actor, including a brief stint serving divorce papers when he was 18 years old, per People.
"One summer after my freshman year in college, I was just looking for work, and my mom said, ‘Well, you can be a process server for me,’" he said. "My mom was a divorce lawyer, and I was the guy who would pop out of the bushes and serve you divorce papers."
The job seemingly didn’t discriminate based on fame either and he even served papers to celebrities, including Rod Stewart, who divorced his first wife Alana Stewart in 1984, five years after getting married.
"Once, oh man, thank goodness I’ve never run into him since, but I served Rod Stewart. I don’t even know if he knows. I don’t think he knows," Schwimmer said, laughing. Colbert then joked how the Madagascar actor could run into the legendary musician at any time and have a face-off. "You could theoretically run into Rod Stewart sometime! Now he knows to punch you."
