As wildfires continue to devastate the Los Angeles area, many celebrities including Anna Faris, Melissa Rivers, Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton are mourning the loss of their family homes.
The Los Angeles area continues to be devastated by raging wildfires.
At least five fires are continuing to spread throughout the county, feeding off the dry conditions and growing with the help of the powerful winds, causing 100,000 people to evacuate and leave their homes, according to NBC News.
Of the burns, the fire in the Pacific Palisades has caused much of the devastation, having torn through over 17,200 acres, almost 27 square miles. It is also here that many celebrities have lost their homes to the fires, many of whom have lived there for decades.
Among those is Melissa Rivers, who just managed to save important items that belonged to her parents Joan Rivers and producer Edgar Rosenberg.
“That is the end of everything that belonged to my family and the history of it," Melissa said to CNN. "I grabbed my mom's Emmy, a photo of my dad and a drawing my mother had done of me and my son. I went for a drawing of hers, rather than a photo. I know I can find the photos, but a drawing I can't replace."
She added of the devastation, “My heart is so broken, not just for myself. It's a town and it's wiped off the map.”
Anna Faris has also lost her home, E! News can confirm, with the Scary Movie star’s rep noting, “Anna and her family are safe and grateful.”
Billy Crystal is another actor who lost a piece of his family’s history, confirming his and wife of over 50 years Janice Crystal’s home has burned.
“Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing,” the When Harry met Sally star shared with People. “We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy. Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can't be taken away. We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”
He added, “We pray for the safety of the fire fighters and first responders. The Pacific Palisades is a resilient community of amazing people and we know in time it will rise again. It is our home."
Other celebrities reeling after the loss of their homes include Ricki Lake, who lamented the loss of her “heaven on earth,” All My Children’s Cameron Mathison, who shared a devastating video of what remained of his family’s home, singer Diane Warren, Dirty Dancing’s Jennifer Grey as well as Paris Hilton, the latter of whom watched her Malibu home burn down live during a news broadcast.
“Heartbroken beyond words,” Paris captioned a Jan. 8 post, confirming she was safe with husband Carter Reum and their son Phoenix, 23 months, and daughter London, 14 months. “This home was where we built so many precious memories. It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London.”
And while expressing her gratitude that her family and pets are safe, her devastation for everyone effected by the fires, and her plans to provide aid, she added, “To the brave firefighters and first responders risking their lives to protect us—you are true heroes. I am so grateful for your courage, dedication, and the incredible sacrifices you’re making to save lives and fight this unimaginable battle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

On Jan. 9, the supermodel shared the childhood home she shared with sister Gigi Hadid and mom Yolanda Hadid had burned down in the Palisades Fire.
Mandy Moore
The This Is Us alum—who is mom to three kids with husband Taylor Goldsmith—shared an update on her family after having to evacuate their home.
"We were able to park and walk up our street to bear witness to all the loss," she wrote on Instagram Jan. 9. "Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now. It’s not livable but mostly intact."
However, she noted that the home studio, garage and back house were destroyed in the Eaton Fire.
"Every house on our street is gone. My in laws. My brother and sister in law- 6 weeks from welcoming their first baby. Our best friends," she added. "Feeling weird survivors guilt. We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support."
Milo Ventimiglia
Like his This Is Us costar, the actor's Los Angeles home was destroyed by the fires. While visiting what remained of his property, he told CBS Evening News his heart felt "heavy."
"You start thinking about all the memories," he continued. "My heart just breaks."
Jessica Simpson
Amid the outbreak of the Kenneth Fire on Jan. 9, the "Irresistible" singer shared an image of smoke rising from beyond her backyard. She wrote in the caption, "We stayed as long as we could."
Bozoma Saint John
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star revealed her dream home in Malibu, where she lived with her teenage daughter Laela, was totaled in the fires.
"This is an unimaginable loss," she wrote on Instagram Jan. 9. "I grieve with the rest of Los Angeles as it burns… and even though I’ve found even words to write here, there’s nothing that I could say in this moment to describe this feeling.
Olivia Wilde
"My block was on fire tonight and the only reason we still have a home is thanks to the brave members of the @losngelesfiredepartment who worked on the ground and from the air to save us," the Don't Worry Darling director wrote on Instagram Story Jan. 8. "Thank you."
Chrissy Teigen
The Cravings cookbook author started preparing in case of an evacuation, writing on Instagram Story Jan. 8, "This is surreal. I'm very scared. Packing."
Jen Atkin
The hairstylist and her husband Mike Rosenthal safely evacuated along with their kids and pets, though she said their home was "gone."
"Our whole area demolished," she added on Instagram Stories Jan. 8, alongside a tearful selfie. "So many are displaced and feeling scared right now it's almost too much to comprehend."
Olivia Culpo
One day after the Sunset Fire set the Hollywood Hills ablaze, the Culpo Sisters star—who is married to San Francisco 49ers Christian McCaffrey—wrote on Instagram Story Jan. 9, "I’m praying so hard for our community. My heart aches for everyone who has lost so much so fast. It’s just unimaginable."

Beyoncé's mom shared on Jan. 9 that "my favorite place, my sanctuary , my sacred Happy Place" was destroyed in the Palisades Fire.
"This is what I was looking at on my birthday this past weekend from my tiny little bungalow on the water in Malibu," she captioned a video of the Pacific Ocean. "Now it is gone!!"
The entrepreneur added, "God Bless all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions . We Thankyou for your dedication and bravery and for saving so many lives."
Gwyneth Paltrow
"Our beloved Los Angeles," the Oscar winner wrote on Instagram Jan. 9, amid the wildfires, "we are in deep grief for so many of our close friends who have lost everything."
Noting that she was safe from the blazes, Gwyneth added, "When the fires are out there will be more to say and everything to do. The city of angels will need angels of all kinds. Please everyone, stay safe and vigilant."
Melissa Rivers
The daughter of late Joan Rivers said her home burned down, though she was able to evacuate with necessities and a few treasured heirlooms.

Travis Barker's kids Landon and Alabama shared they were forced to leave their residences amid the devastation.
"Just evacuated from my home due to wild fires in Los Angeles, please be safe!!,” Alabama posted on Instagram Story Jan. 7. “They are saying the fires are spreading foodball field amounts in seconds."
Jennifer Tilly
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and her husband Phil Laak evacuated to Commerce—a neighborhood southeast of Downtown Los Angeles—to escape the Palisades Fire. She wrote on InstagramJan. 8, "Phil and I had to evacuate to the Commerce Casino."
Ricki Lake
The former talk show host shared on Jan. 8 that her house had been destroyed by the Palisades Fire. Sharing throwback photos of the property, she wrote on Instagram, "It’s all gone."
"I lost our dream home," she continued. "It was our heaven on earth. The place where we planned to grow old together. We never took our heavenly spot on the bluff overlooking our beloved malibu for granted, not even for one second."
She added, "This loss is immeasurable. It’s the spot where we got married 3 years ago. I grieve along with all of those suffering during this apocalyptic event."
President Joe Biden
“To the residents of Southern California: We are with you,” the POTUS wrote in a Jan. 8 Instagram post. “My team has provided 24/7 weather forecast support, sent 5 Air Tankers and 10 firefighting helicopters, prepositioned dozens of fire engines, approved grants to reimburse firefighting costs, and I've approved Governor Newsom's request for a Major Disaster Declaration.”
He added in a separate Instagram post, "To the brave men and women who ran towards danger over the past 24 hours in Southern California, I want you to know your President, and the rest of the country, is with you."
California Governor Gavin Newsom
A day after the Governor of California declared a state of emergency and warned residents to heed officials’ warnings, he thanked President Joe Biden for his support throughout the devastation. “Thank you @potus for your swift response,” he wrote to Instagram Jan. 8, “and aid to California as we work to battle these unprecedented wildfires.”
Cameron Mathison
The General Hospital actor shared that, while he and his family safely escaped the blaze, they sadly lost their house in the fires. He posted harrowing footage to Instagram Jan. 8 of burning rubble, writing, “This is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday.”
Mira Sorvino
On Jan. 8, the Mighty Aphrodite star said she had evacuated from her home amid L.A. fires. "Welcome to the inferno," she wrote on Instagram. "Praying that everyone gets out safe with their loved ones and pets- we wrangled our cats in a blackout but all well & accounted for."
Candis Cayne
"I’m not sure if I’ll have Casa Cayne to come home too, in Altadena," the Dirty Sexy Money actress shared on social media Jan. 9. "My beloved Altadena. I still don’t know if my house is gone, it doesn’t look good. Charlie and I are safe."
Madelaine Petsch
The Riverdale alum shared in an Instagram Story that she had evacuated from her home. "I'm safe, praying for this city and the people in it," she wrote. "please stay safe and keep a close eye on your phone."
Sandra Lee
The TV chef revealed on Instagram, “I don’t have a home anymore, my house is gone.”
In the aftermath of her evacuation, she noted “everybody is safe” but said, “I don’t know how to compartmentalize this, I don’t know what to do. So, the only thing I can do is go to work, and I’m gonna go to work today like I go to work every day.”
Maria Shriver
California’s former First Lady took to Instagram Jan. 8 to share her sentiments, writing, “Heartbreaking, devastating, beyond belief. Everything is gone. Our neighborhood, our restaurants. All our friends have lost everything. We have evacuated, but are safe. But people have lost everything.”
Spencer Pratt & Heidi Montag
The Hills alums shared on Jan. 7 that their home sadly burned down during the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles.
In a tear-filled TikTok post, Heidi—who evacuated with Spencer and their two sons—shared, “I’m so sad our house is gone. I’m so sad for everyone else going through the same thing. It’s really hard losing your house and everything you worked hard for. So horrible.”
They weren’t the only family members to lose homes in the fire, as Spencer also shared an image to his Instagram Story of a destroyed home, noting alongside crying emojis, “My parents house gone.”
Jason Kennedy
The E! News alum said he and his family are “safe and evacuated” and shared video of destroyed homes to Instagram Jan. 8. “All night and into today I’ve talked to friends who lost homes,” he wrote in the caption. “It’s far from over and we need a miracle for these winds to stop and fires to be put out. There is deep anguish in a city that I love so much. Please pray with me.”
Jamie Lee Curtis
The Oscar winner shared a heartbreaking message Jan. 7, noting that she was unsure about the state of her home amid the conditions.
"My community and possibly my home is on fire," she wrote on Instagram. "My family is safe. Many of my friends will lose their homes. Many other communities as well."
"It is a terrifying situation and I'm grateful to the firefighters and all of the good Samaritans who are helping people get out of the way of the blaze," she added. "Neighbors have taken care of neighbors. We ALL take everything for granted because we are all living our lives but when it hits your community, it's particularly shocking."

The son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson wrote on his Instagram Story Jan. 7, “The neighborhood I grew up in is burning to the round rn. Pray for the Palisades.”
Chris Pratt
"Please send prayers and strength tonight to everyone in Los Angeles affected by these devastating fires," the Marvel star wrote on Instagram Jan. 7. "Los Angeles is in a state of emergency and over 30,000 have been ordered to evacuate."
He added, "Thank you to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and wildlife as they battle fast-moving wildfire fueled by fierce winds. You are true heroes, and we are endlessly grateful for your sacrifice and courage."
Hailey Bieber
Reposting an informational post on the fires that are “burning more than 1,200 acres,” to her Instagram Stories Jan. 7, the Rhode Beauty founder wrote, “Praying everyone is safe.”
