Dallas-Fort Worth area school districts are closing their campuses and canceling sports and other extracurricular activities Thursday and Friday ahead of the winter storms expected to hit the region.
Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Rockwall and Hunt counties are under a winter storm warning as the National Weather Service forecasts a wintry mix of rain and possibly up to 4 inches of snow starting around 6 a.m. Thursday.

All Dallas ISD schools and offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, according to a district press release. After-school activities and athletic events for these days are also canceled.
Grand Prairie ISD schools and offices will close Thursday.
Garland ISD also closed its schools for Thursday and Friday “due to the forecasted severe weather and unsafe road conditions,” according to the district. All GISD after-school activities scheduled for those days are also canceled.
Richardson ISD schools and offices, including xPlore after-school programs, will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Irving ISD classes, after-school and evening activities are canceled for Thursday and Friday. Irving will give parents a decision by noon Friday, via School Messenger, phone call, email and text if athletics events planned for Friday evening will continue as scheduled, according to a district press release.
Cedar Hill ISD schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD schools and offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. All after-school activities and events are canceled.
Farmersville ISD announced school closures for Thursday because the storm “could create challenging and potentially dangerous conditions for students and staff returning home from school,” according to the district’s website.
Wylie ISD will also be closed Thursday and Friday, a district spokesperson said.
Frisco ISD also decided to cancel school Thursday.
Arlington ISD schools and facilities will be closed Thursday. The district will provide an update at a later time regarding whether the district’s schools will be open on Friday, according to the district’s X account.
Southlake Carroll ISD is closed Thursday and is assessing whether it will close on Friday, according to the district’s X account.
All Northwest ISD schools and facilities will be closed Thursday, and all Thursday activities are canceled. The district will provide an update regarding Friday’s classes by Thursday evening, according to a press release.
Greenville ISD schools will be closed Thursday and Friday, according to the district’s website.
