Grey’s Anatomy gets a new season green light.
Grey’s Anatomy will be getting a new season as the makers gave the green light to season 21. With this, Grey’s Anatomy extends its record as the longest-running primetime medical drama. It made the record in 2019. Grey’s also is the longest-running ABC primetime scripted series.
Currently running in its 20th season, the next season is expected to consist of 18 episodes, up from the 10-episode strike-impacted 20th season.
All this while Grey’s Anatomy lead Ellen Pompeo was not around for all the episodes and the show keeps introducing new characters who take the story forward. Ellen continues to appear in a recurring role in addition to serving as an executive producer and providing the voiceover that opens and closes each episode.
Meanwhile, Grey’s Anatomy has Meg Marinis as the new showrunner of the Shonda Rhimes-created series. She took over from the 20th season.
