ALPHA, N.J.- Bihler of America plans to lay off dozens of workers at its facility in Alpha, outside Phillipsburg.
According to a WARN Notice filed with the New Jersey Department of Labor, 75 employees will be impacted by the move.
The layoffs are scheduled to begin on April 4, 2025, and wrap up by May 5, 2025, according to the filing.
A phone call and email from 69 News to the company seeking more information were not immediately returned.
A WARN Notice is a requirement of the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988. It mandates that employers give a 60-day notice before closing plants or conducting mass layoffs.
According to its website, Bihler of America was founded in 1976 in New Jersey as a distributor of Bihler manufacturing machines from Germany. In the years since, Bihler of America has grown to be a leading provider of high-speed processes for stamping, welding and tapping of metal products, as well as a leading producer of multi-piece assemblies.
The company’s U.S. headquarters is at 85 Industrial Drive in Alpha. It’s not known how many workers are at the facility. Bihler says it employs more than 1,100 people around the world.
