Vince Marrow has been right by Mark Stoops’ side throughout his entire tenure at Kentucky. There are regular reports of a potential departure, but every time Marrow has been pursued, he ultimately decides to stay in Lexington. Even though this one felt a little different, that trend is not changing.
FootballScoop reports Marrow will remain in Lexington after considering a role on Bill Belichick’s inaugural coaching staff at North Carolina. We reached the same destination, but this courtship was certainly different.
First and foremost, FootballScoop handled all of the reporting. There was zero information coming from the Kentucky side of things. An organization that’s well-plugged into the world of agents, the source made this courtship feel real.
Secondly, we all know that Vince Marrow has a good gig at Kentucky. He’s one of the highest-paid non-play-callers in college football. There just aren’t going to be many other more attractive opportunities elsewhere. Coaching for Bill Belichick is one of those opportunities.

The former Super Bowl Champion from the New England Patriots is bringing a new model to the college ranks. Marrow could have led the high school recruiting operation for this innovative approach it had to be awfully enticing.
It’s been almost two weeks since initial reports connected Marrow to North Carolina. During that time he’s been actively recruiting for Kentucky in the transfer portal. There is no telling how close Marrow was to leaving Lexington, but this should shut the door on offseason coaching changes. The only move happened at wide receiver as L’Damian Washington replaced Daikiel Shorts, who departed for Nebraska after only one season.
