All American Airlines flights were grounded Tuesday morning, affecting millions across the United States traveling for the holiday season.
In posts on the social media platform X, the carrier told customers that it was experiencing a nationwide “technical issue.” American Airlines said that it was unknown when the issue will be resolved, though workers were trying to fix it “in the shortest time possible.”
“Your safety is our utmost priority, once this is rectified, we’ll have you safely on your way to your destination,” the airline said.
The Federal Aviation Administration posted on its website that the carrier made a company request for a “nationwide ground stop” for all American Airlines planes and its subsidiary airlines.
