Access to Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG’s (HHLA) Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) is now fully digital after the launch of HHLA Next’s Passify self-service app in early December, a press release said Tuesday (December 10, 2024). The app replaces the previous trucker card. More than 200,000 lorries arriving at HHL’s terminals have been handled per app making for entirely digital, safer, more efficient handling. The app is already used in the Burchardkai (CTB) and Tollerort (CTT) terminals.
Rebecca Vick, Director Container Development Hamburg: “By implementing Passify, we are not only making truck processing at our Hamburg container terminals safer and efficient, we’re also setting a new standard in the digitalisation of logistics processes.” More than 13,000 truck drivers and haulage companies use the app to book slots, check in digitally and identify themselves using two-factor authentication. “This result is another example of how HHLA uses cutting-edge technologies to streamline processes for our partners and clients,” she added. The app’s security and data protection standards meet the requirements of the internationally recognised International Ship and Port Facility Security Code.
Passify was developed by HHLA Next, HHLA’s venture-building and investment unit. Passify GmbH was established as an independent subsidiary of HHLA Next this year. The app is already being used at a Romanian hinterland terminal. More international rollouts are planned. Marcel Lindemann, co-founder of Passify, said: “Our aim is to become the gold standard for simple, secure and synchronised truck processing at terminals around the world.” More functions such as mobile self-service terminals should improve the application and pave the way for its introduction worldwide.
