RUSSELL — When Youngsville and Eisenhower meet on the wrestling mat, one can count on two things: a packed gym and good efforts by both teams, and last night was no exception.
On Thursday night, the Knights came out with a 46-18 win in their home gym.
After a double forfeit at 107 pounds and a Youngsville forfeit at 114 pounds for Max Enos, Eisenhower collected pins in the next five weight classes as Rever Caudill recorded a first-period pin at 121 pounds; Shawn Miller was next at 127 pounds; Griffin Williams had a first-period pin at 133 pounds, Ryan Chambers followed that up with a second period pin at 139 pounds; and Wyatt Neal recorded a first-period pin at 145 pounds at the close of the first period as the Knights built a 36-6 lead.
The Eagles received forfeits at 152 and 160 pounds, and at 172 pounds Eisenhower’s Corey Bunce posted a major decision when he claimed a 21-9 win over Michael Raffanello to make the score 40-12 in favor of Eisenhower.
At 189 pounds, the Knights’ Bryceton Wilkins earned a first-period pin. The next two matches went to the Eagles as Connor Minnis earned a 7-3 decision over Bryce Coleson at 189 pounds and his brother, Graeme, earned a 7-1 decision over Aiden Huebach at heavyweight.

“I am really happy for the guys with the win tonight,” Eisenhower head coach Jared Lindell said. “They have been working hard to get better and tonight it showed. I thought we wrestled well as a team, but I am happy for Corey (Bunce) with his major at 172 pounds. We moved some guys around to get them matches, but it worked in our favor. It was great to see a packed gym with fans from both schools cheering.”
