Students and youngsters, who participated in the two-day study camp conducted by the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO), were urged to uphold politics that voiced the struggle of the oppressed and the vulnerable section of society.
Ms. K. Uma, State General Secretary of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI-Communist), said, “Politics dictates all aspects of life, and one could not be neutral and indifferent to it.”
She said there are two types of politics. One of which fights to secure justice, while the other perpetuates injustice, and students should back the politics that support the cause of justice.
‘’Teachers, parents, and relatives say that the supreme duty of students is only to study but this will prevent students from raising their voice against injustice which is necessary to build political movements’’, she said.
Delving on the current situation, Ms. Uma said unemployment was rampant in society, and people were losing jobs. Citing statistics, she said that 20 crores of people were suffering from hunger and malnutrition which has remained a scourge.
AIDSO State Secretary Ajay Kamath, vice-president Abhaya Diwakar, and others also spoke and urged the participants to build movements against the issues in education.
