Thiruvananthapuram: Agnes Godard, the French cinematographer, who is heading the jury of the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) is impressed by the people’s participation in the event. She said though she has attended many international film festivals, she has never witnessed the kind of delegate participation in Thiruvananthapuram.
She made the comment while addressing an open forum on the sidelines of the festival on the second day on Saturday. "The attempts being made in the IFFK to establish a deep connect between audience and film-makers at IFFK is laudable," she said.
Earlier, speaking to film critic Nandini Ramnath at an ‘In Conversation’ session, Godard said her experience as a journalist and the photography career of her father had influenced her life in cinema.
She said her long-term association with eminent French filmmaker Claire Denis was a great experience. "I was brought to cinema because of my interest in telling stories through visuals. Hence I am able to do cinematography earnestly," she said.
She also lauded Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine as Light’ which won the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival early this year. She praised the film as an example of nuanced storytelling. She said new technology and opportunities have been helping youngsters break the borders of imagination.
