Columbia Basin College’s new LaCASA serves as a learning space and provides deliberate programming to highlight Hispanic/Latine, Asian American and Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander, Black/African American and Indigenous populations.
The $1.1 million project, completed in July, involved remodeling a 5,306-square-foot space in CBC’s T Building.
The space includes a kitchen, meeting rooms, meditation room, space for social interaction and studying.
LaCASA aims to increase engagement and provide support for Hispanic/Latine, low-income and historically minoritized students regardless of ethnicity, culture, gender, and intersectional identities.
Its purpose is to foster a sense of belonging among Hispanic/Latino students and the entire student body.
Peak Contractors Inc. of Kennewick was the contractor.
Integrus Architecture of Spokane was the designer.
