WEST BEND — Auto Safety Center, owned by Joe and Jessica Valind, is gearing up for a homecoming of sorts, as they are returning to Main Street in West Bend with the opening of their second West Bend location at 200 S. Main St. on Monday.
“We’ve expanded to two locations in West Bend, and for us it’s a bit of a homecoming,” said Managing Partner Michael Hilzley. “Auto Safety Center started initially on North Main Street, and then moved out to the location across from Fleet Farm (at 3700 W Washington St.) So, for us this is a kind of homecoming coming back to Main Street.”
According to Hilzley, Auto Safety Center’s newest location will be a full-service center that can perform whatever your automotive needs may be, from diagnostic work and scheduled maintenance to engine replacement and transmission replacement. People who have work done on their vehicle at Auto Safety Center will also receive a 5-year, 50,000-mile parts and labor warranty on all work done to their vehicle.

“You’ll have a full experience here,” said Hilzley.
The South Main Street location of Auto Safety Center, once it opens on Monday, will be the second largest independent repair facility in West Bend. The largest is Auto Safety Center’s Washington Street location.
Because of the size of the South Main Street facility, Auto Safety Center will still be able to offer same-day or next-day service, just as it does at its Washington Street location.
“That’s something we pride ourselves on,” said Hilzley.
According to Hilzley, Auto Safety Center has been looking at expanding in West Bend for a while, specifically due to demand from their customers.
“They’re very loyal to us, but (customers sometimes say) ‘ah, it’s such a drive,’” said Hilzley. “So, we’ve been trying to get this store for about a year-and-a-half.”
When Auto Safety Center opens its doors Monday it will have two technicians on staff, but that will expand up to six technicians on staff.
“When this store is fully operational, we will have 10 family-supporting jobs here,” said Hilzley. “So, we’re really excited about that.”
Another point of pride for Auto Safety Center is that 75% of its employees live in West Bend, which is another reason that owners Joe and Jessica have decided to reinvest in the city.
“West Bend has been very good for us, and we feel like we are a very strong community partner in giving back and donating our time,” said Hilzley. “We are West Bend, we’ve been here since ’65. West Bend is always going to be our home, it’s always special to us.
“With so many of our employees living right here, we take a lot of pride that we can look at our customers at the farmers’ market, at the grocery store, at church, at Music on Main at Bockfest, all the different community events. We’re so proud to be there, and we’re so proud that we can help the community.”
