Two new industrial-use businesses at the Peterson Industrial Depot and the Tooele Business Park broke ground and opened this year, providing more than 170 future and current job opportunities.
In February, construction on the first building at the new Tooele Business Park continued and was nearing completion. The building, located just south of the Tooele Technical College, serves as Leitner-Poma’s biggest location in a plant called “Skytrac,” where ski lifts, gondolas, cables, and snow cats are now manufactured.
The site was completed and open for business by June 2024.
Construction on the 120,000-square-foot building began in fall 2023 by R&O Construction, a company based out of West Valley City. The building is located on 25 acres, and the building cost $27 million. The company provides around 120 jobs with an average wage of $80,000 a year, including benefits.
Officials from Minova, a company providing ground support and geotechnical solutions for mining, tunneling, and surface ground engineering projects, held a groundbreaking ceremony at the company’s future location—545 Lodestone Way—on May 13 at 2 p.m.
“It’s a super important piece for us,” said Ryan Kerr, president and CEO of Minova, speaking about the new facility. “For us, it’s really important to get the facility up and recruit the workforce. It feels a bit like we are pioneers coming out to the west. We’ve definitely chosen the right place.”
The facility is being built by Tekko Industrial Engineering and Construction, a Tooele-based company, and is expected to open by Feb. 18, 2025. The company will provide around 58 jobs and $21 million in wages.
“Tooele City is thrilled that Minova has chosen to locate at the Peterson Industrial Depot—a growing center for industrial activity, local job growth, and a value for our taxpayers,” Tooele City Mayor Debbie Winn said during the groundbreaking ceremony. “We take pride in welcoming Minova to do business in our community.”
Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Minova operates 13 production sites and 18 sales offices across North America, South America, Europe, South Africa, India, and Australia.
